Soils CRC International Scholarship: The University of Southern, with funding from the Cooperative Research Centre for High-Performance Soils (https://soilcrc.com.au/), is offering one PhD scholarship that will contribute to the analysis, modelling, and diagnosis of soil constraints across Australian farming systems.

The goal of this project is to create a soil constraint diagnoses framework that combines biophysical crop and soil modelling with statistical and artificial intelligence approaches and leverages public domain and farm-level data.

Eligibility for the USQ Soils CRC International Scholarship

  • Every nationality.
  • The University offers a PhD program in analysis, soil constraint diagnosis, and modelling.
  • USQ requires a certificate equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree with First Class Honours or a higher level.
  • Must not hold a degree considered by the USQ to be equivalent to a PhD.

The USQ Soils CRC International Scholarship award is a stipend of AUD $30,000 per year for up to three years.

The Cooperative Research Centre for High-Performance Soils (Soil CRC) brings scientists, industry, and farmers together to find practical solutions to Australia’s underperforming soils.

Every year, underperforming agricultural soils cost Australian farmers billions of dollars in lost revenue.

The CRC aims to increase farmers’ productivity and profitability by providing them with knowledge and tools to improve soil performance.

The Soil CRC is Australia’s largest collaborative soil research effort in its history.

The research approach is multidisciplinary. The Cooperative Research Centre coordinates research in a variety of fields such as social science, economics, biology, chemistry, agronomy, and soil science.

The Soil CRC has 39 participants who, along with the Australian Government, contribute $167 million in cash and in-kind contributions to the CRC.
