Eligibility

  • To be eligible for institutional scholarships, you must send to KU your official or unofficial high school transcripts. The most effective way to submit them is to submit them along with your admissions application. If you don’t send in your transcripts, awards will be withdrawn.
  • Scholarship decisions are based on a student’s GPA. After the student’s sixth high school semester, KU will use either the weighted or unweighted GPA, depending on which is more advantageous to the student. Scholarships are not given by KU based on grades that students self-report.
  • Domestic students who enroll in at least 12 credits for both the fall and spring semesters right after high school graduation are eligible for these scholarships.
  • Please get in touch with your admissions representative if you believe your application needs more scrutiny.

Renewal

  • Each academic year, the student must complete at least 27 hours at KU, which can include any summer coursework, and maintain a 3.25 KU GPA.
  • Scholarships are awarded for either eight semesters of enrollment or the completion of the student’s first bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first.

Need-based aid

Freshmen entering next year who submit their FAFSA by February 1 and show they have financial need will be given consideration for our Jayhawk Access Grant. If granted, the student’s financial aid overview, which becomes available in early March, will include this grant.
