The QUT Academic Excellence Scholarship is the university’s top award for students who have excelled academically. The QUT Excellence scholarship is given to high-achieving high school graduates and gap year students who are starting an undergraduate course at QUT. This merit-based scholarship recognises and supports high achievers by granting them membership in the College of Excellence.

The QUT Academic Excellence Scholarship is currently open to both indeginoues and international students intending to run their bachelors degree program at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) .

Eligibility for the QUT Academic Excellence Scholarship
To be eligible for the QUT Academic Excellence Scholarship, you must be one of:
- a resident of Australia or New Zealand
- a permanent resident
- the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
- an international student who has completed high school (or International Baccalaureate) in Australia or an Australian curriculum overseas
You must also:
- be graduating Year 12 on or before 2023
- be starting university for the first time
- have a minimum unadjusted ATAR of 98 or equivalent
- have placed QUT as your first preference on your QTAC application
Term of scholarship
- The scholarship term is determined by the student’s enrolment load, which can be fulltime or parttime (e.g., three years for the $30, 000 scholarship or two years for the $10,000 scholarship, assuming full-time enrollment).
- Students who switch to parttime enrollment will have their scholarship term extended and will continue to be eligible for it until the full value of their scholarship is depleted.
How to Apply for the QUT Academic Excellence Scholarship
The QUT Academic Excellence Scholarship does not require you to submit a scholarship application. All eligible students who submit a QTAC application with a QUT course as their first preference by the QTAC key dates will be considered.

Scholarship Award for the QUT Academic Excellence Scholarship
Scholarships are available, including:
- Scholarships worth $30,000 each are available for study in any discipline.
- Scholarships of $30,000 each are available for courses in the faculties of science and engineering only.
For up to three years ($10,000 per year), these scholarships will be paid as a study stipend of up to $5,000 after the HECS-HELP census date of each semester.
- Scholarships of $10,000 each are available for study in any discipline.
This scholarship will be paid as a study stipend of $2,500 per semester following the HECS-HELP census date for the first four semesters of your course ($5,000 per year).

As part of QUT’s commitment to Women in STEM, at least 50% of QUT Excellence Scholarships in STEM will be awarded to qualified female students.
Successful recipients from the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering who achieve a grade point average (GPA) of 6 or higher in their first semester will be invited to apply for a place in the Dean’s Scholars Program in Science and Engineering.
Following each semester’s census date, students will receive their scholarship funds by electronic transfer to the bank account of their choice.
While every effort is made to ensure that direct scholarship payments are accurate, scholarship recipients are required to keep track of payments and alert the Student Excellence Coordinator if there are any overpayments or underpayments. The university may ask students to return money in cases of payment discrepancies.
